What to Wear?
...your Caribbean cruise clothing list of lists!

First of all, to help determine your Caribbean cruise clothing needs, check the Cruise Company Package they send you.

You may be able to get a packing list from them in addition to the list provided here. If not, there is excellent information here that will help you to enjoy your cruise vacations.

Are there any formal evenings? How many are there? On a seven day cruise it is probably two. A dark suit and tie is entirely appropriate for these evenings. Of course a tuxedo is an excellent choice as well.

If you want to bring only one suit, remember the same suit with a different tie makes a new outfit. Many cruise vacations have alternate dining facilities if you want to avoid the main dining room and the formal nights. Personally I find the formal dinners very special and worthwhile.

A sports coat, tie and slacks are fine for semi-formal evenings.

Determine how many "cocktail dresses" or dressy pantsuits women should bring. Try to avoid clothes that require special care. Keep it simple.

Informal does not mean shorts or jeans, but dress slacks with a sports shirt.

Review brochures about the cruise to determine what types of activities are available. For days on board think smart, casual resort wear. Rubber soled shoes are best on ships' decks.

The cruise ship is your "resort at sea" so keep that in mind when preparing your Caribbean cruise clothing packing list. What would you take when going to a land resort?

Cruise Vacations - Color Scheme

A good idea is to try to stick to one color scheme. By accessorizing outfits through various means; scarves, ties, etc. you can have a large variety of outfits.

Take clothes you already have in your closet, especially if you feel good wearing them. This applies to men as well as women. Two sport coats with two different dress slacks can make 4 different outfits if chosen correctly (get help from the lady in your life!). Women already know how to do this!

Caribbean cruise clothing - Shoes

A pair of good, broken-in walking shoes is a "must". Perhaps a pair of running shoes as well as backup or for activities you want to participate in. You will need a pair of dress shoes for special occasions, such as formal dining nights.

Cruise Vacations - On Shore

Be careful where you put your hard earned vacation money. Back hip pockets are not a good place for wallets as they are too easily picked.

If you prepared well you will have a copy of your identification such as passport on you, or event the original. Keep it safe though. Your ship will have a safe in your room so only take as much money as you'll need for the day, and hide some emergency money somewhere on you, maybe even in your shoe!

Be aware of people around you, be prepared, then have a great time on shore and enjoy yourself and your new experiences.
