Caribbean Cruise Reviews - the "Galaxy"
Celebrity Cruises - 7 Night Southern Caribbean Cruise aboard the GALAXY
The Galaxy was departing San Juan, Puerto Rico on a February Friday night at 11pm. My wife and I boarded early afternoon on Friday, leaving lots of time for a saunter around the ship. We always like to do that on the first day, even if we have sailed on the ship before. It is a chance to see what is new, without much of a crowd as passengers are arriving all day.The Galaxy is a beautiful cruise ship, with an especially attentive crew. You don't walk far on the Galaxy before someone waves "hello"; and it is usually a crewmember. Our cruise itinerary covered the following islands: - Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
- Basseterre, St. Kitts
- Bridgetown, Barbados
- Margarita Island, Venezuela
- Oranjestad, Aruba
We varied our routine when in port. Sometimes we arranged our own tours by walking outside the port and negotiating with the dozens of drivers waiting to do business. All were friendly and agreeable to make the tour you want. At other ports we signed up for the tour arranged by the ship. In Aruba, we rented a car with another couple we met on board and shared the cost. This is very much an individual choice but from my experience, any of these are fine. The ship itself was outstanding! A wonderful crew, excellent meals, and superb service made for a truly memorable cruise. The nightly entertainment was very good and presented a variety of entertainment to keep things interesting. I have always felt strongly about Celebrity Cruises and the reasonably priced cruises they present, while at the same time being a cut above the others. We would most assuredly cruise with Celebrity again and most certainly on the Galaxy.
